The year is ending and although we thought to end this year in a peaceful way after so many beautiful souls leaving this earth, it seems that 2016 has yet left another wound to be healed as it brings upon us the death of the very well known and popular artist Junaid Jamshed. Born on September 3rd 1964, this star entered into the Pakistani music industry through his band “Vital Signs”.

The young musician freshly out of Engineering university gave music a try so his stylish boyish looks coupled with a deep husky voice gave the chills all around Pakistan and made him a sensation in just a matter of days when he began to sing, his songs so good that they made the top charts on music channels everywhere and his band being the one who introduced rock into the Pakistani music industry. His escalated fame lead him to release a solo album in 1994 which was no less of a hit then his previous band albums, having an initial career as a recording artist and celebrity, in 2004 he made an abrupt lifestyle change as he devoted his complete attention towards the depths of Islam leaving behind the reason he became famous, his singing career as well as his engineering career before that. His devotion to his religion was reflected in his many numerous Naats that he then started performing after wards such as Jalwa-e-Janan released in 2005 followed by Mehboob-e-Yazdaan in 2006, Badr-ud-Duja in 2008, and Badee-uz-Zaman in 2009 not only performing them live but releasing them on CDs as well.
He started actively participating in activities based on religion as well as became a notable preacher of Islam specially during the holy month of Ramadan he had many special transmissions on air. Not only this but the man was so talented that he launched a female clothing line that is daunted as one of the most well known names in fashion in Pakistan by the logo J.(dot).
On December 7th 2016 news came of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight number Pk-661 to have crashed near Haveliyan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to different sources the notable preacher/celebrity had gone to Chitral taking alongside one of his wives, where he attended a congregation, he had even sent in pictures on his twitter feed and social media of the good times he was having with friends and family, he was then set out to deliver a sermon on Friday at the Parliament house in Islamabad and had boarded flight no Pk-661 that departed Chitral at around 3:30 pm and was set to have landed at the Islamabad Benazir Bhutto International Airport at around 4:40 pm. This flight boarded on 40 total passengers and unfortunately midway through the flight the plane crashed.
According to sources the exact location where the flight crashed was at the Patola village near the Pakistan Ordinance factory near Haveliyan, the main reason for the plane crash being engine problems in the plane. Sources also indicate that among the causalities that took place on this flight was also the reputable Deputy Commissioner Umar Waraich. The death of the famous singer turned preacher was confirmed not only by his manager Arsalan who confirmed that Mr. Junaid Jamshed was indeed in Chitral but also was confirmed from his brother who gave the statements confirming his death and that he was no doubt on that flight and that family and friends were trying to contact both him and his wife’s cell phones but they were continuously coming in as turned off. His devastating death has left people of Pakistan in tears as yet another remarkable soul and good man has left this earth for the heavens.
